Invasive Carcinoma

Invasive Carcinoma Invasive Breast Cancer

Invasive Carcinoma or Invasive breast Carcinoma  is broad category of types of breast cancer. it is being described further in article. To better understand it you need to understand first what is breast cancer. It is unnecessary rapid growth of abnormal cell in breast of humans. it always start at some point spreads to other tissue.

What’s it:

The word invasive means aggressive.  As per dictionary it’s ‘spreading very quickly into all areas of the body and difficult to stop or control’. And same goes with invasive breast cancer. The cancer which has spread out of the place of origin to surrounding tissues would be invasive Cancer. For example, Ductal carcinoma in situ spreads out of the milk carrying ducts it becomes invasive ductal carcinoma. If lobular carcinoma in situ spreads out of the lobules i.e., spreads out of type place of origin it becomes invasive lobular carcinoma. Invasive breast cancer has so many types.

  1. Invasive ductal carcinoma: IDC is breast cancer origin in milk carrying ducts of breast. And then must have spread to some other tissues nearby or else has spread to other breast tissues. Sometime it has spread to other body parts through blood vessels. Invasive ductal carcinoma is advance stage of ductal carcinoma in situ
  2. Invasive lobular carcinoma: Also called as infiltrating lobular carcinoma. It is the second most common invasive cancer after IDC. This cancer origins in lobules (milk producing glands) and has spread to surrounding tissue. Carcinoma states that cancer which begins at skin or tissues that covers internal organs

Again, invasive ductal carcinoma has subtype like tubular carcinoma which accounts for maximum of 2% cases of total breast cancer cases in world.

There is some less known invasive breast cancer.

  1. Adenoid cystic carcinoma
  2. Mucinous carcinoma
  3. Papillary carcinoma
  4. Medullary carcinoma.

Treatment of Invasive Breast Cancer:

Treatment of all invasive breast cancer depends on how advance are they. It depends on where and how much they have spread from place of origin.
